The art instructor at DramaQueen's school chose her artwork for display at a new teacher training center in our county. She was one of two from the school, so this is my first official "brag" on my daughter. Dear Husband was so tickled he emailed everyone in our address book and posted the letter from the teacher on his blog.

  3. Bless your little girl! Keep encouraging her, and make sure there are lots of resources to choose from so that she can express herself through her art whenever she feels like it. This is a gift from above.

  5. I am a graphic artist and a fine artist. From my perspective, that is a mighty fine picture. Was this her own concept, or was she copying an existing piece? If it's her own creation, then your daughter has a good eye, a strong ability to conceptualize, and a superior color sense. Even if it was copying an existing work, I believe the execution was far beyond her years.

I would imagine you will save this (if she doesn't). Make sure you date it on the back in pencil. As her abilities develop over the years, it is likely that this will be a special piece for her because it was so well received.

  6. Thanks for all the appreciation. Gary, I think you should blog some of your art! I really appreciate your take on her work. I don't think I was capable of anything like this at 6 (and believe me, my mom saved pretty much every scribble). Well, I'll have to encourage without being pushy.
